About Marlie
Growing up under generations of musicians, poets & performers, it was always some form of make-believe game or music that lit me up. My childhood was a mish-mosh of memories of watching cartoons like Spongebob, Rugrats & Looney Tunes with my brother, while also having a grandmother who exposed us to epic Broadway shows & operas.
As I grew older, I fell in love with musical theater -- "In the Heights" formally started the obsession -- and proceeded to study acting in New York City. I have since built a strong foundation in theater training and studied Meisner technique. I have extensively practiced vocal technique across multiple genres over the course of my life, along with music theory and sight-singing.
While I could probably hit the gym more often, I can confidently say that my voice is by far my strongest muscle; I love using it any way I can, whether that's telling stories through a script or a song.
Any chance to collaborate on a project, I strive to marry professionalism and fun.
Fun Facts:
-
I am Ecuadorian-American and am very comfortable with various Spanish pronunciations, singing in Spanish and a wide variety of Latin dialects!
-
When I'm not in the booth, you also can catch me singing in the Los Angeles Metropolitan Master Chorale! Otherwise I might be writing, watching a juicy TV show, cooking a new recipe, doing yoga, or out in nature enjoying the fresh air.
